According to Iran's customs statistics last year, more than 7600 tons of pomegranates worth $ 11.3 million were exported from Iraq, Armenia, the Netherlands, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, the United Arab Emirates and Russia, respectively, the largest export markets for pomegranates in Iran last year.

The pomegranate is a tree whose height is usually up to 4 meters in the subtropical areas. The pomegranates are native to the central and eastern parts of Iran to the Himalayan mountains in northern India and is one of the first domesticated plants by humans. Due to this long history, the name of pomegranate has been mentioned several times in ancient historical texts as well as in sacred books. Homer, the famous Greek Flute in his book (Odyssey) named it, and known that the Prophet Solomon (AS) has a large garden of pomegranate trees that he loves. In the Quran, it is also mentioned 3 times from this fruit, so pomegranates are known as Quranic fruits. Also, in Surah al-Rahman, pomegranate is mentioned as a fruit of heaven.
